FROM VINEYARD TO VINEYARD

You can get to know a territory in many ways: in this itinerary, Friuli tells its story through vineyards and typical products. The ideal itinerary for all the foodies around!

 

DAY 1

After arrival, departure with the tour guide for Cividale, in the heart of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. Guided tour of a renowned winery of the area, tasting the famous Picolit and other fine white wines and a light lunch. The Friulian wine is an excellence of the territory and is the result of a tradition that goes back to the time of the Roman Empire. Fine wines and 8 D.O.C. awarded zones, rich in both native and European vines: robust and intense red wines and fruity and scented white wines, worldwide recognized and rewarded.

DAY 2

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Gorizia. Guided tour of the border town at the foot of the Collio, divided between Italy and Slovenia up to 2004. Wine tasting and lunch at the Castello di Spessa, an ancient castle from the 1200’s surrounded by vineyards, wineries and the Friulian hills. You will taste typical wines of the area like the white Tocai Friulano, dry, fresh and aromatic. In the afternoon a walk to Cormons, center of the Collio Friuliano, renowned for its prestigious vineyards, and return to the hotel for dinner.

DAY 3

Departure after breakfast towards the Carso Triestino, where you will visit a famous vineyard embedded in the karst rocks and will taste typical wines like Malvasia, Vitovska and Terrano.  Lunch in Trieste, where you will meet with the local tour guide that will walk you through the history of the most Mitteleuropean and cosmopolitan city in Italy; you will be captured by the charm of its beauty and the Gulf. Return, dinner at the hotel.

DAY 4

Departure after breakfast with the tour guide for a whole day excursion in Conegliano and Valdobbiadene through one of the most important wine routes in Italy: the Prosecco D.O.C.G. Territory. After a tour around Conegliano and its Castle on a mountain, we will proceed towards the local green hills to visit a magnificent Venetian Villa that hosts one of the most famous wineries in the area; then a light lunch with a taste of local products.  On the way back a stop in Sacile, the town called Giardino della Serenissima (the Serenissima Garden) because it is built along the river Livenza with many palaces in Venetian style. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

DAY 5

After breakfast meeting with the tour guide for the excursion to the charming town Pordenone, with its characteristic archways (porticoes) along the central main street, once called Contrada Maggiore, today Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. In addition to the Dome and its bell tower, the Palazzo Municipale and Palazzo Ricchieri (the Art Museum), you will admire magnificent buildings, many of them decorated with frescoes. After the tour around Pordenone, departure for one of the most renowned wineries of the area; light lunch with wine tasting and tour of the winery. Departure at the end.
