Tirè al scopeton
Traditions whose origins are lost in time: in Erto carnival finishes on Ash Wednesday.
This tradition, even though it falls on a weekday, is very much felt by all the population that find the means to participate in it, dressed in traditional clothes. It follows the “scopeton” herring that is dragged by an animal (goat or donkey) around the village: the stops are numerous since the inhabitants offer drinks and food to all the participants to exorcise the “scopeton” that represents the poor lifestyle of the past, when the poor families hung it over the centre of the table and “lo tociavano” (dabbed on it) to flavour the polenta.
