The mountains expect us
At the first junction turn left; the road narrows and is no longer paved. Continue for about 600 m along a rather uneven dirt track up to another crossroads with paved roads (5.6 km). Go ahead, crossing VILLA D’ARCO and continue straight to reach a crossroads with a flowerbed. Turn right. After approximately 1.1 km along the quiet wide road, take a dirt track to the left (via Aprilis) for approximately 1 km, which then becomes paved again. Continue and at the first junction turn right, ignore the road to the right and at the crossroads (no-entry ahead) turn left into via Madonnetta and then right towards via Mason to reach via Roma on the right. This is the centre of S.QUIRINO. Go past the church (11.4 km), turn left around the elegant Palazzo Cattaneo and proceed straight ahead until the road goes to the right.
Cycling alongside a nice wall, leave via Cellina to the left. When the paved road has ended, turn left onto a dirt track. Ignore a road on the right; continue along the dirt track that ends at the crossroads. Take the right turning along a paved road and past a large roundabout leading to piazza di SAN FOCA (14.5 km). Take the second turning to the right and at a triangular flowerbed turn left into via Partidor. Continue along a quiet paved road, past two farms and the power station (with a water tower). When the road bends to the left (sign for S. Leonardo) go straight onto the gravely dirt track (3.2 km) on the right bank of the Cellina Torrent (ample view) that ends at the crossroads with the main road SS 251 (23.2 km) that is taken to the right and which is left after only a few metres by turning left into a quiet paved road.
Go straight past another hydroelectric power station, and on the flyover that goes onto the new bridge over the Cellina Torrent. Shortly after, when the road starts to descend and turn towards the right, turn left into a gravely road that leads back to the road junction (26.5 km). Turn left (watch for traffic) and with a wide turn go onto the new bridge over the Cellina (ample view upstream and downstream). Having reached a large roundabout, continue ahead (signs for Maniago) to a traffic light (30.3 km). This is now MANIAGO. Turn left and follow the tree-lined via Pordenone up to the level crossing, adjacent to a set of traffic lights. Continue straight along via D. Alighieri and at the small roundabout take Largo S. Carlo ahead, turning right into via Roma to reach the beautiful Piazza Italia. The Duomo, knife museum and the castle ruins are all worth a visit. The railway station can be reached from piazza Italia by going straight along via F. di Maniago, and, after the traffic lights, taking via Stazione almost straight ahead. From the station of Pordenone, the distance covered is 32.4 km.
