Cycling through the parks of Pordenone
Coming out of the main gate of PARCO GALVANI (0.00 km) towards the city centre, cross the road and turn left on the cycle path towards a double roundabout. Turn right and cross via Martelli along the cycle path parallel to via Riviera del Pordenone with red paving. At the traffic lights, cross the road to the left and go over the Adamo ed Eva bridge across the Noncello River (recovery of a fine piece of historical architecture). At the end of this cycle-foot path is the Chiesa della Santissima. Cross Viale Delle Grazie and turn right, still on the path. Continue straight past the railway underpass. Turn left into another cycle path, which flanks the railway line and intersects on the other side of the road – “watch out when crossing” – the cycle track to the left, running parallel to via Nuova di Corva (1.50 km up to this point).
Turn right on this cycle path until reaching via Villanova di Sotto (3.80 km), past the vehicle registration offices, and turn left. After about 200 metres and before an evident highway overpass, turn left along a tree-lined via Villanova taking the underpass to the other side of the highway. After the underpass, turn right to reach a roundabout across Frazione Villanova (the parish church is worth visiting). Continue towards the east along via Levade. At the first bend, turn to the left, at the second bend turn to the right and at the third to the left again. Cross the railway underpass to come out onto via Udine, which is now a one-way street (8.30 km). Cross the road turning left, and after about 30 m to the right, descend into via Pravolton. Go straight ahead, passing first a small roundabout and then a cycle underpass leading to the COOP parking lot.
Continue towards the fountain, passing it and turning right towards the exit in the direction of Udine. At the new roundabout take the 3rd exit into via Musile, which zigzags for about there kilometres until passing the public bowling green to reach via Vittorio Veneto near the Roman baths and the Castello di Torre (the Torre castle) (worth a visit) with its pleasant grounds at the foot (to the right), where you can take a rest (11.30 km). Once the grounds have been left, go up via Carnaro (where there is the historical Casa del Popolo to the right) and across the traffic lights into via Nazario Sauro. Continue straight along and then at a crossroads with a small roundabout take vial Grande. At the next crossroads with via Maestra Vecchia “watch out when crossing”, continue the ride straight into via Campagna until reaching via San Daniele, after a sharp bend. Cross this road as well and take via Pionieri dell’aria (name taken after the early fearless pilots, who had implemented a flying field that has now been turned into a small airport for ultralight aircraft), which is right in front until reaching, vial Turco (to the left) after a bend, and a slight descent to intersect with the main road SS 13 Pontebbana once again (16.30 km).
Taking the same care as before, cross the road and take via Ungaresca to the left. After about 100 m, to the right, is via Cellina leading to piazzale Sacro Cuore, across a small park. A small maze of streets (via Frisanco to the south, via Navorons to the east, via Poffabro to the south, via Turati to the east) lead to via Interna near the sports hall and the fire station. Follow the road to the right (the road has recently been restructured with ample footpaths) up to the first bend and turn left into the cycle track among the trees, flanking PARCO di San VALENTINO, back to the starting point after a short ride (18.50 km).
End of the tour.
