Historic centre of Spilimbergo
Spilimbergo has ancient origins and was of great splendour during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance period.
As a result of the rapid commercial development in the '300s the small town rising around the castle grew enormously, so much so that three different circles of walls were built to surround the town.
The Torre Orientale (East Tower) (1304) belonged to the first circle.
Among the buildings you can see the Casa Dipinta frescoed in the XVI century with scenes from the life of Hercules.
After the Tower, the town opens out to Borgo Nuovo and Borgo di Mezzo, divided by Corso Roma, a cornerstone of the historic city. More (The link you are accessing might not be in English.)
